Last week 4 x West Technology engineers were let loose for a short adventure up North. Their destination was Livingston in Scotland for training with Pfeiffer. With thanks to Macdonald Houstoun House for such a lovely stay in their beautiful hotel. From looking at the hotel, it may have looked as though they could have been on a romantic winter getaway, however not the case. These Engineers were ready to learn.
Pfeiffer put on 2 x days training, which helped the Engineers have a good understanding of leak detectors, vacuum pumps and general vacuum. Even some History was taught.
Ollie reported that the training was thorough and covered leak detection, how to get the most out of the Pfeiffer Helium Leak Detector’s and Rotary Vane Pumps as well as the importance and History of Vacuum and Leak Detection.
It is important that engineers and all staff at West Technology know the importance of Vacuum. It means that not only can we can represent West Technology and Pfeiffer but the whole Vacuum industry. Without Vacuum Engineering so many systems and items of modern technology would not be developed, from Vacuum Packing to Smart Phones and most recently West Technology’s lead in the Forensic world. Training with Pfeiffer gives us the knowledge to be passionate about what we do and to pass the knowledge and developments on to customers (as well as anyone who will listen!)
Ollie, Martin, Daniel and Mitch will hopefully be telling us more in depth what they have learnt, spreading their knowledge with the team during the next few weeks. For now though Ollie’s most knowledgeable advice is: 5 x Domino’s is far too much for 6 x men!
