Testimonial for Leak Testing & Professional Engineering

Often at West Technology, you can hear the whispers of other engineers and staff trying to figure out if Ben – our service engineer is still employed by West Technology/alive. Why? Because Ben has become our most professional Leak Testing engineer and constantly seems to be away on various sites.

His most recent work has been at Graham Engineering who provides world class innovative and advanced manufacturing solutions. Graham Engineering boasts a broad-spectrum of industries including nuclear, aerospace and automotive industries. Ben spent several days with Chris, Adam and Jason from Graham Engineering leak testing large nuclear waste containers, all of which were a great success. All West Technology engineers are trained to a high standard and comply with ASME V 2007, AECP 100 Part 7, BSEN 1385:2001 & Mil STD 883G.  Ben must follow a specific procedure with the use of helium mass spectrometer. This is to respectively detect and measure minute traces of helium gas entering the object under test. In this case the internal part of the container was connected to the HMSLD  and the rest of the container was externally covered with a suitable containment material (visualise a custom made huge plastic bag!) . The “bag” was pressurised with helium and any helium form any of the welds/ports would be drawn into the container and detected by the HMSLD.

Chris was delighted on just how efficient our procedure was and Ben’s attitude throughout the testing. The following is a testimony of Ben’s hard work:

‘I would just like to say Ben has been really helpful up here & the job has been going really well, thanks again for helping us out at such short notice everyone here & at Dounreay are really pleased with the testing & Ben’s professionalism.’

If you think that you would like Ben or any other members of our experienced team to come and do some leak testing, please get in contact or follow the links through this article. Luckily Ben has some more site visits coming up, which gives us in the office a small break from his gloating!
