Kent blue skies were a mass of colourful balloons on the morning of April 7th 2017. Nearly 100 Hot Air Balloons set off on their voyage to cross the channel to Northern France in the attempt to break the world record, which was previously set in 2011. Amongst the 100 balloons was our Vacuum Service Engineer Ben, who had something up his sleeve for the journey….
As well as now having our own World Record breaker, we also have our very own old romantic. Ben went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend Yvette. Ben had planned to take Yvette in the balloon, as she is normally on the ground as part of Ben’s support team. Unfortunately, even the best laid plans never go exactly to plan and a BBC news reporter had taken Yvette’s spot. Ben asked the big question before 100 Hot Air Balloons filled the skies and of course the answer was YES! We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Ben and Yvette and wish them all the happiness for the future.
The fleet of balloons landed 2.5 hrs. later near Calais, breaking the 2011 record of just 49 balloons.
