WTSL Service Manager Survived Hottest London Marathon EVER!

………… and completing the marathon with his other half!

On Sunday, Nick and his wife Susie joined the 40,000 masses for the 38th annual, hottest London Marathon. Temperatures were set to peak to 24.1C on Sunday 22nd April as the marathon was started by the Queen with a push of a button (its reported by Nick, it was not a very enthusiastic push!). Despite the unusual warm temperatures Susie and Nick ran the 25miles through London at an impressive 5hrs and 40 minutes and crossed the finish line together. Although Nick and Susie’s start points were at different point, they stuck to their plan, with Nick waiting for his good lady at the first water station and the plan worked. Nick – making the 25 miles sound so easy quoted they both enjoyed seeing the sights and seeing some imaginative fancy dress, including a brave runner running in ski boots – mad!

(1) Nick and Susie were running for the charity Sense. This is a brilliant charity, close to Nick and Susie’s heart, which raises awareness and funds for disabled people with complex communication needs. Sense supports children, young people and adults in their home, in the community and at their centres. Also, they offer practical help and support to families and carers, including information, advice, short breaks and family events.

Sense’s mission is simple – ‘to make sure no one with complex communication needs is isolated, left out or unable to fulfil their potential.”

A fantastic and applaudable £2,500 was raised as a collective by Nick and Susie – well done! Nick – the nice guy he is has mentioned he will wait till after pay day to start hassling people to pay up. If you would like to make any late donations or have money to pay, then please contact us. We would all like to say at West Technology a massive congratulations to Susie and Nick. Nick managed to convince his wife for 2018, who will be his target for 2019?… Anyone?
