Fingermarks on Fired Ammunition – A Video from Cumberland County DA’s Office

The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office recently showcased their VMD560 latent fingerprint development system in a one-minute video, highlighting its advanced capabilities in forensic investigations.

The results are quite amazing.

The VMD560 utilizes the Vacuum Metal Deposition technique, which involves coating evidence with very thin layers of metals, like gold and zinc, in a high vacuum environment. This process enhances the visibility of latent fingerprints on various surfaces.

It is effective on non-porous, semi-porous, and porous surfaces, making it a versatile tool for forensic analysis. It can develop fingerprints on items, such as glass, plastic, metal, and even fabrics.

Live online demonstrations can be requested.
