West Technology VMD Featured in Two Major Crime Shows

We’re excited to share that our cutting-edge Vacuum Metal Deposition (VMD) technology has recently been featured in not one, but two major crime investigation shows — highlighting how our forensic solutions are making a real difference in solving complex cases.

Killer at the Crime Scene

Our VMD560 technology was showcased in Killer at the Crime Scene (Season 4, Episode 3) on 5Star. The episode focused on the tragic case of Jane Hings, where a pillowcase was processed for trace DNA using our VMD technique. This powerful method enabled investigators to uncover critical evidence that played a key role in solving the case.

VMD remains one of the most sensitive techniques for revealing fingerprints and trace evidence on challenging surfaces — helping forensic teams uncover the truth and bring justice to victims and their families.

Forensics: Murder Scene

Our VMD360 technology was also featured in Forensics: Murder Scene (Season 1, Episode 4) on Channel 5. In this case, a pair of gloves was processed using the VMD360, revealing ridge details that, while insufficient for immediate identification, provided valuable clues that helped investigators take the next critical step in the case.

It’s always rewarding to see our technology contributing to real-world investigations — helping forensic scientists uncover even the smallest details that can make a big difference.
